Udupi, Sep 3: A special police team has been formed to nab the accused in connection with blackmailing a young girl's father of uploading her fake nude photos on social networking sites, and search operations for the accused are on-going, informed Udupi Superintendent of Police P Rajendra Prasad.

In relation to the blackmail, the girl's father Muneer Ahmed has lodged a case against his sister's son Mohammed Shameel and police constable Sudheer at Udupi town police station, on Monday.
In the complaint, it is stated that the girl's father Muneer had visited the police station on April 1 as per constable Sudheer's instructions, accompanied by his nephew Shameel.
Sudheer had then allegedly demanded a sum of Rs 30 lakhs from Muneer if he did not want his daughter's nude photos to be uploaded on the internet and other media. When Muneer responded that he did not have enough money, the demand came down to Rs 25 lakhs.
Muneer has stated in the complaint that he had handed over Rs 2 lakhs to Sudheer on April 11 and the remaining Rs 23 lakhs on April 19 at Bhujanga Park in Ajjarkad.
As per the complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 384 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
Police constable Sudheer had previously served at Kollur, Manipal and Udupi town police stations and was a member of DySP and Udupi circle inspector squads. He had been suspended from duty over a similar case of blackmailing a businessman from Udupi.
In the on-going case, Udupi SP also informed that Sudheer had been suspended again.
However, both the accused in the blackmail case are absconding, and a special police team has been formed to nab them, he said.
