Bengaluru, Jul 17: Ballari city MLA Anil Lad has been remanded in police custody till July 20. He was produced before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Court on Thursday, when his counsel C.V. Nagesh, moved a bail petition.
However, the court remanded him in police custody and asked his counsel to file the bail petition on Monday.
Anil Lad was arrested by the CBI on Wednesday after he failed to provide satisfactory answers to the unaccounted 15,000 tonnes of iron ore that his firm exported through Sri Mallikarjuna Shipping Company of another Congress MLA, Satish Sail.
Satish Sail’s firm has been accused of illegally exporting nine lakh tonnes of iron ore through Belekeri port.
