Udupi, Jun 23: In what could have been a major catastrophe, a speeding sports utility vehicle overturned and hit a car in which former minister and Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake was travelling at Ambalpady here on Thursday.
The driver and other occupants of the Mhindra Scorpio suffered injuries after it rammed into the road median and overturned on National Highway 66.
The Scorpio also hit the front portion of Mr Sorake's Innova car before turning turtle and blocking the highway partially. Fortunately, Mr Sorake and his driver escaped unhurt.
However, Mr Sorake's car bearing registration number KA 65 N 5 damaged in the accident. He had to resume his journey in another car. A case has been registered at Udupi traffic police.
