Bengaluru, May 14: Elections to the office-bearers of Karnataka state and district Congress committees are scheduled to be held from Sunday.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy's daughter Sowmya Reddy and former police officer B K Shivaram’s son Rakshit Shivaram are in the fray for the post of Bengaluru unit president.
Polling is scheduled to be held between May 14 and 17. There are around 3.62 lakh voters in the elections. Counting of votes for district committees will be held on May 18, while counting for the state president’s post is scheduled on May 19 in Bengaluru. MLC Rizwan Arshad was the state Youth Congress president till recently.
Malpractice
Sources in the party said supporters of many contestants have complained of election malpractice to Bhupendra Singh, who is the returning officer for the elections.
They have complained that ballot papers have been leaked in many places with an intention to rig the elections. Complaints are also lodged with the party high command, urging it to ensure free and fair elections, the sources added.
