Mangaluru, Aug 1: Kadaloor Sathyanarayana Acharya and S H Hosagoudar today took charge as the new Principal District and Sessions Judges of Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada respectively.
The two judges was posted by the Karnataka High Court after their predecessors K S Bilagi and V S Dharwadkar, the Principal District and Sessions Judges of Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada, respectively, retired from judicial service yesterday.
The High Court also transferred 2nd Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammed Mujahidulla as the first Additional Principal Judge, Family Court, Mangaluru.
It posted Pallavi B R as the new 2nd Additional District and Sessions Judge. Ms. Pallavi is among the 30 newly appointed district judges who have been posted to different courts in the State.
Mr. Bilagi, who started his judicial service as a magistrate in Udupi in 1988, has served in various positions. He was Registrar of Karnataka High Court before his posting as Principal District and Sessions Judge of Dakshina Kannada on June 30, 2016.
Farewell
In the farewell function at the Mangaluru Bar Association on Tuesday, Mr. Bilagi said his 25-month- long service in Dakshina Kannada was fruitful. “I came as a child (referring to his first posting in Udupi) and now leave as a matured person,” he said.
He commended the knowledge of advocates of Dakshina Kannada, which, he said, helped him to deliver good judgements.
Dinakar Shetty, Secretary of the Bar Association, commended Mr Bilagi for helping junior advocates in effectively presenting cases.
Ivan D'Souza, MLC and the Association President M.R. Ballal also spoke. Principal District and Sessions Judge designate Mr. Acharya attended the function.
