Mangaluru, 13: Hotelier Manjunath Pai, who took the taste of sea food to a new level through his popular Giri Manja’s restaurant in Mangaluru is no more.

Affectionately called as ‘Manjanna’, the ever-smiling boss of the coastal city’s one of the most famous seafood destinations breathed his last after a massive heart attack on Wednesday night, sources said.
Located behind Kalikamba Temple at Car Street, Mangaluru, late Pai’s Gir Manja’s restaurant had been attracting people from all walks of life including celebrities thanks to its tasty fish fries.
42-year-old Pai is survived by his wife, two children and thousands of fans. Everyday an ever-smiling Manjanna on the cash counter used to greet and personally speak to almost every customer and respond to the needs in addition the hotel staff.
Despite being homely and relatively small, Giri Manja’s is considered as one of the prestigious restaurant in Mangaluru.
The crowd during lunch hours at this restaurant varies from top class businessmen, officials, college students to average daily wage workers.
It is a usual scene to have cars and two wheelers parked outside the tiny hotel during lunch hours while owners of those keep waiting for the seats to be vacated by the previous one.
