Mangaluru, Feb 7: The matter of shifting the office of Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner’s office from the state bank area to Alape-Padil is expected to come up for the Cabinet approval in its next meeting.

The district Congress last year had sent a proposal to the state government urging to shift the office with an intention to decongest the city. The state government had earmarked Rs 135 crore in its last budget to construct separate DC offices in as many as six districts in the state. Besides 5.89 acres of land has already been identified in Padil for this purpose.
Mr. Rai, who also holds the portfolio of Forests, Environment and Ecology, said that the Forest Department has allotted the land required for the building at Padil.
