Deralakatte forced sex case: Police file charge sheet against eight accused

Mangalore, Mar 20: The Mangalore City Police filed charge sheet against eight persons allegedly involved in threatening two medicos and filming the couple after forcing them to have sex.

The incident occurred near a medical college in Deralakatte on December 18, 2013. A hot chase by a team of policemen and advocate Asha Nayak, who came to the help of the harassed woman, led to the arrest of eight persons the next day.

The Konaje police have filed charge sheet against Safan Hussain, Sameer, Imran Altaf, Nawaz, Ikbal Harris, Abdul Rauf, Nissar Ahmed and Araf. They have been charged under sexual harassment provision 376 (d) of the Indian Penal Code. They have also been charged for extortion, dacoity, kidnapping for extortion, criminal intimidation and attempt to murder. They have also accused of contravening provisions of the Information Technology Act.

The 564-page charge sheet contains video and audio analysis of the images of the two medicos caught by the accused in their mobile phones. It also contains report of the identification parade done using the video conferencing facility for the woman to identify the arrested persons. Ms. Nayak is among the 66 persons named as witnesses in the charge sheet.
