Chikkamagaluru, Nov 29: The seers of Sringeri Sharada Mutt have pardoned the youth who allegedly posted a derogatory statement against them. Seer Sri Bharati Tirtha and junior seer Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati said they were not disturbed by the comments made by the youth on social media.

According to a press release, administrator V.R. Gowrishankar said he discussed the issue with the seers, who said that as they were ascetics they had nothing to do with praise or criticism. “The seers said they had pardoned the youth and had wished him well,” he said, while lauding the efforts of the police in taking swift action.

The Facebook post against the seer had attracted protests by devotees, who demanded police action. Following which, the youth was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
