Udupi, Nov 17: A group led by social worker from Udupi Vishu Shetty Ambalpady has admitted a psychologically-depressed young woman roaming in the streets in a drunken state to the district government hospital.

When Vishu Shetty relayed the condition of the young woman to the president of Karnataka State Commission for Women, who immediately contacted a member of the commission named Shyamala Bhandary from Kundapur to confirm the well-being of the woman in question.
Shymala Bhandary accompanied Vishu Shetty to the hospital and ascertained if the young woman was receiving proper healthcare and treatment at the hospital. She directed the hospital medical staff to provide her with necessary treatment as per the patient's medical diagnosis.
She also ensured that the police personnel were deployed at the hospital to provide protection to the young woman.The young woman is said to be recovering well, but still not completely recovered from her psychological condition.
Vishu Shetty relayed to the media and others that the woman had confessed to having resorted to alcohol to drown her misery. With both her parents being dead, people had begun taking disadvantage of her, which is why she had taken to alcohol.
The 21-year-old woman is also said to have revealed that a few of her relatives resided in Kallukoru. She is willingly receiving treatment at the hospital and hopes to be better with time.
