Bengaluru, Apr 10: In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old electrical engineer from Kerala, who had recently returned from Dubai, was found dead in Malur taluk of Kolar district, nearly two weeks after he went missing from a police station in Bengaluru under suspicious circumstances.

His body was identified on Tuesday by his parents who flew down from the Gulf after being contacted by the police regarding their missing son, Nabeel Naful, a native of Kollam in Kerala.

A post mortem was conducted at the Kolar district government hospital on Wednesday and the body was handed over to Nabeel’s father Nahas Pasha. The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. The Malur police have registered a case of accidental death since Nabeel was found injured on Masti Road in Malur town on March 30.

Nabeel Naful had completed electrical engineering and worked in Dubai for a year. He came back a month ago as he wanted to relocate to India. He arrived in Bengaluru on March 23 to scout for jobs.

Nabeel went missing from the Mahadevapura police station in East Bangalore on March 25 after he was taken to the police station by an auto rickshaw driver. The auto rickshaw driver reportedly took the youth to the police station after he boarded the rickshaw but refused to communicate with the driver subsequently.

Police claimed to have questioned Nabeel on his identity and where he needed to go without much result. Nabeel who could only speak English and Malayalam and a bit of Hindi reportedly wandered away from the police station after telling policemen he wanted to eat, police said.

He left the police station without taking any of his belongings including a wallet and a mobile phone. Police claim to have waited for his arrival for a long time and contacted his parents with his mobile phone after he did not return for over a day. Nabeel’s father Nahas Pasha and his mother came to Bangalore last week and filed a missing person complaint regarding their son.

Nabeel was reportedly found by locals in Malur on March 30 lying a semi naked state with injuries on his forehead.

Locals who found the injured Nabeel on Masti Road informed the local police who took the youth to the local government hospital for treatment. The Malur police suspect Nabeel to have been knocked down in a road accident.

He was later shifted to the Kolar district hospital where he died on April 5. Since the body had not been identified it was preserved at the hospital morgue. The Mahadevapura police who were informed of the presence of the unidentified body went to the hospital on Tuesday and found the body. They informed Nabeel’s parents who in turn confirmed that the dead body was their son. An investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death is under way, police said.

Questions that need to be answered

1 The police say Nabeel was looking abnormal, but he was well-dressed and educated. They should have immediately sought the contact number of his parents or friends and informed them that he was at the police station. Why didn't they do so?

2 Police say Nabeel was communicating only in Hindi and Malayalam and that they brought both language translators. Wasn't there a single person who knew Hindi or English?

3 When they were aware Nabeel appeared lost and that he was looking depressed (according to them) they did not make arrangements for him to have breakfast at the station, and instead sent him out alone to a restaurant. Why?

4 When there was no complaint against Nabeel nor had he committed any wrong, why was he kept back at the police station for several hours?

5 Why were his valuables kept at the station? Did the police want him to return to the police station for some purpose?

6 What happened to the money in Nabeel's wallet? What - or who - killed Nabeel Naful?

Mangaluru, Dec 2: Mangaluru International Airport responded to a medical emergency late on Monday night. Air India Express flight IX 522, travelling from Riyadh to Thiruvananthapuram, was diverted to Mangaluru Airport after a passenger in his late 30s experienced a medical emergency on board.

The Airport’s Operations Control Centre received an alert regarding the passenger’s health condition. The airport activated its emergency response protocol, mobilising the airport medical team and coordinating with stakeholders including CISF, immigration, and customs.

Upon landing, airport medical personnel attended to the passenger, assessed his condition, and arranged to shift him to a local tertiary-care hospital for further treatment. Mangaluru: In a significant step to curb online hate and intimidation, Mangaluru City Police have registered a suo motu case against multiple Instagram accounts accused of circulating alleged provocative and threatening content.

While monitoring social media activity on Tuesday, Kankanady Town PSI Anitha Nikkam identified the Instagram handle ‘team_targetttt_900’ for posting a hate message alongside images of lethal weapons. Another account, ‘team_nagara_900’, allegedly shared a threatening post targeting activist Bharath Kumdelu, tagging additional pages such as KARAVALI-OFFICIAL.

Several other accounts — including ‘immu_bhai.fan’, ‘target_boy_900’, ‘kings_of_manglore’, ‘team_target_boys.900’, ‘arshad_mangalore’, ‘target_ka19_ullal’, ‘team_target__’, ‘troll_tigersz_900’, ‘tr_group_900’, and ‘team_target_900’ — are also under scrutiny for spreading similar inflammatory material, police said.

Authorities have urged citizens, especially young social media users, to report suspicious pages and avoid engaging with groups that glorify violence or threaten individuals. Online hate can quickly escalate into real-world harm, and police stress that sharing or promoting such content can attract legal consequences.
