
Mangalore, Feb 16: The foundation stone laying ceremony for the new campus of the Prestige International School was held at Jeppinamogaru in the city on Saturday.
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes formally laid the foundation stone, while Union Minister for Minority Affairs K Rahman Khan launched the logo of the school.
On the same occasion the school's annual sports meet was also inaugurated.
Founded by H R Educational Foundation in the year 2006 as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Prestige International School has now emerged as one of the prestigious schools in Mangalore.
According to Hyder Ali, chairman of the School, the new campus would be one of the best equipped schools in the region.
Spread over four and a half acres, the campus will have a large pre-primary block with 35 rooms, a large primary and secondary school block with a well-equipped library, Maths lab, Science lab, and an Arts lab along with an indoor stadium and a large auditorium. The school will also have two swimming pools and an outdoor sports stadium with separate grounds for cricket, volleyball and football.
Former Karnataka education minister B A Mohideen, MCC Mayor Gulzar Banu, Mangalore MLA U T Khader, former MLA Vijayakumar Shetty, Congress leaders G A Bava, Ivan D'Souza, Moideen Bava were present among others.
