Udupi, Feb 25: Four persons were napped in Kundapur in connection with the murder of Vishwanath Shetty on the outskirts of Shivamogga during a communal clash that erupted after miscreants pelted stones at a rally organized by Popular Front of India (PFI) activists last week.

A police team headed by Bhadravathi DySP B Sadananda Naik nabbed Mohammed Mushar (21), Ashid Ahmed (32), Arshad Ahmed (27) and Mohammed Haneef (43), all residents of Kundapur in Udupi district. Mohiddin, another suspect in the case, is yet to be arrested.
According to Eastern Range IGP M Nanjundaswamy, the suspects reportedly attacked Vishwanath and three of his friends near Gajnur on the outskirts of the city on February 19 around 7:30pm after the communal clash.
Vishwanath had sustained severe injuries and died later in a private hospital in Shivamogga. The accused were returning to Kundapur in a vehicle after taking part in the march organised by PFI in the city. It is said that Vishwanath and his friends were heading home on bikes after having dinner at Gajnur.
