Mangaluru, Jun 15: International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman N Srinivasan paid a private visit to popular Subrahmanya temple in Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada district and offered special poojas.
The development comes within a couple of days after the former chief of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was re-elected chairman of ICCI.
Reliable sources said that Mr Srinivasan reached Subrahmanya via Mangalore International Airport on Saturday late night and stayed at a private guest house near Kumaradhara bridge.
On Sunday Mr Srinivasan performed 'Sarpa Samskara' pooja and on Monday he offered 'Ashlesha Bali Seve' as instructed by an astrologer from Kerala, sources said.
Mr Srinivasan had visited Subrahmanya temple in the past too. It is said that he is supposed to visit the same temple after a few months to accomplish a vow.
Several national figures including cricket players, politicians and cinema stars offer 'Sarpa Samskara' pooja at Kukke Subramanya. It is now one of the richest muzrai temples in Karnataka.
It is worth mentioning here that Mr Srinivasan was forced to step aside from BCCI President’s post and later withdrew from a possible re-election owing to the Indian Premier League (IPL) scandal.
