Mangaluru, Jul 29: The first Career Excellence Centre (CEC) Round Table in the state was formally launched by Institutional Excellence Forum (IEF), a Noida-based non-profit organisation, in collaboration with Yenepoya University, Mangaluru and All India Confederate for Women’s Empowerment Through Education (AICWETE) at the Indoor Auditorium at Yenepoya University, Deralakatte on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday.
An Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between IEF and Yenepoya University at the launch of the centre. The CEC will be located at The Yenepoya School, Jeppina Mogaru in the city limits.
Speaking on the occasion, former chairman of National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Justice MSA Siddique said the Career Excellence Centre would provide a platform not only to provide career guidance to students but also for like-minded people to work for the cause of promoting commerce, humanities and arts streams.
This platform will give a successful educational institution the ability to create an environment of intellectual excellence. The IEF has rolled out the inclusive Education program which promotes the importance of mapping inherent abilities and interests. This IE program provides the opportunity to shift the focus from subjective to objective education, he said, pointing that such an initiative would help in making India a better informed career hub.
Patron of IEF Dr Gautam Raj Jain said that the objective of the CEC was to provide career guidance to students from high school to pre-university level based on their inherent interests and abilities. The collaboration aims at promoting non-STEM fields of study such as Commerce, Humanities, Arts and Social Science in higher education and provide counseling and career guidance sessions for students and parents, he said, adding that the collaboration would also boost vocational training in the country.
In his speech, Chancellor of Yenepoya University, Y Abdullah Kunhi said that recently, attempts were being made by the central government to promote STEM fields of study such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, but non-STEM areas had remained largely untouched. In this direction, the newly-launched CEC will work towards promoting non-STEM fields among students and educational institutions, he said.
Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya University Dr M Vijaya Kumar, Registrar Prof C V Raghuveer, IEF Managing Trustee Probir Roy, IEF Member-Academic Council Dr Shabistan Gaffar, Founder Trustee Amit Garg and co-founder CEO of Students Destination Mohan Tiwari were present.
