In a blood-curdling incident, a just-born infant abandoned in a garbage bin, was done to death by a stray dog in Chikkaballapur city of Karnataka on Thursday morning.
People who noticed the dog carrying away the infant rescued it from the canine and rushed to the general hospital, but in vain. As the infant was severely wounded, it succumbed.
Currently the infant's body is at the hospital's morgue.
A few NGOs and other activists' assembled at the hospital and demanded that the district medical officer and district surgeon should come to the spot.
The medical officer registered a complaint to placate the mob and promised action against those responsible.
