Mysuru, Jul 3: Karnataka's second exclusive tech park for women is likely to come up at Thandavapura village in Nanjangud taluk of Mysuru district.
The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has been asked to develop the required infrastructure there to enable women entrepreneurs set up their industries. The park will be established at a cost of Rs. 20 crore.

The District Industries Centre (DIC) and KIADB have held several rounds of discussions in the last few days and have resolved to create 40 plots measuring quarter acre each, 20 plots of half an acre each and another 20 plots measuring one acre each. The remaining area would be utilised for other infrastructure works. KIADB would create the infrastructure through IntaGlio Technology & Business Services.
H. Ramakrishne Gowda, Joint Director of DIC, said that over 90 women entrepreneurs have already registered their names for this park.
DIC and KIADB would consider the expertise and experience of each women entrepreneur while short listing the beneficiaries, he said and added that the Union government would contribute Rs. 10 crore towards the setting up of the park.
Mr. Ramakrishne Gowda said that entrepreneurs need to contribute 10 per cent of the total cost of their units. The proposed women tech park is not sector specific, he added.
Recently, DIC had taken prospective women entrepreneurs, and members of WISE (women in small enterprise) — a wing of the Mysore Chamber of Commerce— to the project site. Earlier, Ratnaprabha, Additional Chief Secretary, had also visited the site and directed DIC and KIADB to expedite the project.
Mr. Ramakrishne Gowda further said that the centre would help women entrepreneurs to get clearance certificates from different departments of the government through a single-window system. He said that the Karnataka State Financial Corporation has agreed to offer financial assistance of up to Rs.50 lakh for entrepreneurs. “The proposed park is a boon to women entrepreneurs,” he said.
