Kidnap case: Clean chit to DySp by CID? VHP leader still absconding

Chikkamagaluru, Oct 6: The Criminal Investigation Department, which was tasked with the probe into the kidnap that led to the suicide of DySP?Kallappa?Handibag, is learnt to have given a clean chit to the deceased officer.

In its final report submitted to the court, the CID has concluded that Kallappa is innocent. Prime suspect in the case, Praveen Khandya, convener of VHP Shivamogga division, is still elusive.

He has been named as absconder' in the report. A charge sheet has been submitted against 11 suspects already arrested in the kidnap case.

The other accused named in the charge sheet are Abhishek, Naveen Shetty, Nataraj, Pradeep, Joy Milton, Jeevan Kumar, Yashas Gowda, Keerthi, Vijay Kumar and Ashwin Shetty.

The CID sleuths said the investigation would continue as one of the accused was absconding.

Handibag, the then Dy SP of Chikkamagaluru, was booked for scripting the kidnap drama of Tejas Gowda, a businessman. He allegedly committed suicide a day after the case was registered.
