Chikkaballapura, Oct 3: A dog strayed into the makeshift helipad at Chikkaballapura when a chopper carrying former prime minister H D Deve Gowda was to land on Monday.
The incident took place at 10.30 a.m. when Gowda arrived at Sri Jagadguru Chandrasekaranathaswamiji Institute of Technology, Chikkaballapura, in a chopper to attend two weddings.
But just when the chopper was to land, a dog strutted down the middle of the helipad, police sources said.
It is not that the organizers were unprepared. Dozens of policemen were positioned around the helipad, crowds were barricaded and safety personnel were deployed to ensure the landing went off without a hitch.
"How the dog got into the landing area remains unclear. This was purely accidental and there was no breach of security," said a senior police official, adding that the police personnel present there shooed the dog away and later ensured the chopper's safe landing.
