Udupi, Jul 14: Forest Department officials with the help of locals rescued a leopard which had entered an old shed at Pernankila village in Udupi district on Monday.

The leopard was found sitting in an old shed near the house of a retired teacher Rangappa Nayak at Janata Colony in Pernankila at around 4 p.m. Mr. Nayak, who noticed it, quietly locked the door of the shed and contacted the officials of police and forest departments.

The personnel of the Forest Department reached the spot by 5 p.m. along with a cage. They placed the cage in front of the door of the shed and covered the shed’s door with a net so that the leopard did not escape.

After three-and-a-half hours, the leopard entered the cage. They shifted the cage into a vehicle and transferred the leopard to Pilikula Nisaragadhama near Mangaluru.
