Ullal, Sep 23: On no occasion should Indian Muslims be the cause for impairing the harmony in the society. It is the duty of every Muslim to love his country as equally as he loves his religion, said Mangalore Khazi Thwaka Ahmed Musliyar.

He was speaking after inaugurating the foundation-laying ceremony of a new Masjid and Madrasa organised by Raulatul Islam Committee in Yeliyarpadavu near here on Sunday, under the aegis of Kundur Jumma Masjid in Amblamogaru.

Khazi recalled that centuries ago generous Hindu kings not only welcomed noble Muslims Hazrat Malik Deenar, who arrived in this land to propagate Islam, but also impressed by their character and lifestyle and supported them to build Masjids in Kerala. Such harmony should continue to be developed, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, social worker Raviraj Rai said that Yeliyarpadavu should become known promoting communal harmony in the region.

Muslim Central Committee, DK president Mohammed Masood presided over the programme.

Syed Ahmed Mukhtar Thangal recited dua on the occasion, while Kundur Jumma masjid secretary Jabbar Thota welcomed the gathering.

Khateeb of Kundur Jumma masjid Abuswalih Faizi, Jamiyyatul Falah taluk president Ibrahim Kodichal, Jaffer Sadiq Faizi, Isaaq Faizi, Abdul Razaq Kemmara, Saaduddin Dalih, K Ashraf and several others were present.
