Abu Dhabi, Feb 20: Ten people have died and eight have been injured in a fire in Mussaffah on Friday morning.

The blaze swept through a two-storey commercial building that contained seven shops and a car repair workshop on the ground floor, while the first floor was warehouse space turned into illegal accommodation for workers, police said. The first floor is where the fire started.
The dead came from various countries, while the others had injuries ranging from minor to severe.
Abu Dhabi Police Operations Room received a report at 3.44am on Friday that a blaze had broken out in three car repair workshops in Mussaffah Industrial Area.
Civil Defence were immediately deployed from various stations, as well as police traffic patrols, ambulance and rescue services and detectives.
The fire was put out and the injured were evacuated and given first aid, while the dead were removed.
Police investigations are ongoing to get to the bottom of the incident and bring those responsible to justice, police said, adding that the owner of the building has been arrested.
Civil Defence warned owners of workshops and workers against allowing or living in illegal accommodation and urged them not to take public safety lightly.
