Mangalore, Sep 5: Following complaints from commuters, vehicle users and traffic police, buses are directed to adhere to rules and regulations and avoid abrupt halting on roads to pick up passengers.

A drive will be launched by D K Bus Operators' Association to ensure that buses follow proper traffic rules and halt only at designated bus stops. This move was decided by members of the association at a meeting held on Tuesday.
Representatives of the association will join hands with the traffic police personnel to enlighten the bus operators to ensure that they stick to proper traffic rules and regulations. As part of the drive, all bus owners and drivers will be directed to avoid random parking of buses on the roads to pick up passengers.
General secretary of the association said that the drive would be launched on Friday and would be continued for a period of four days. The awareness drive will commence from Hampankatta and will include important junctions and bus stops in the city, he said.
