Mangalore, Sep 25: For the 10th consecutive year, Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Hospital, Mangalore will organise the World Heart Day Run in the city on Sunday as part of World Heart Day celebrations.
Announcing this at a press conference here on Thursday, Dr Anand Venugopal, Medical Superintendent of KMC Hospital said that the World Heart Day Run 2014 would be flagged off from TMA Pai Convention Centre at 7 a.m. and culminate at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle via PVS Circle.
Attempt entry in Asia Book of Records
To celebrate the tenth consecutive year, KMC Hospital will attempt to enter the Asia Book of Records by attempting the largest heartbeat simulation simultaneously for five minutes, said Dr Venugopal.
He said that around 360 students, including 35 children admitted as in-patients at KMC Hospital, took part in the drawing competition held as part of World Heart Day celebrations.
On the occasion, national champion and athlete Clifford Joshua unveiled the World Heart Day Run 2014 t-shirt. He will be the torch bearer for the event, while South Indian actress Sharmila Mandre will be the special guest.
Dr R L Kamath, HOD, Department of Cardiology, Dr Padmanabha Kamath, senior interventional cardiologist, Saghir Siddiqui, Unit Head, KMC Hospital, Dr Sujeeth Suvarna, cardiac surgeon and Dr Maneesh Rai spoke on the occasion.
Dr Narasimha Pai, interventional cardiologist, KMC Hospital, welcomed the gathering.
