Mangaluru: Dr Shilpa Dheeraj crowned ‘Super Mom 2017’ on Mother's Day

Mangaluru, May 16: Every Mother has a special place in the heart of her children. She is special for a reason. She faces all hardships to protect them and give the best to them. While every day is special with a mother in ones life, Mother's day is one such day, when we pull out all stops to show her what she means to us.

Moms of Mangalore (MOM), an online social group of close to 25 thousand mothers of the region took this opportunity to do their little bit on this day to commemorate this special person in everyone’s life. MOM along with all the well-wishing sponsors came together to host a special evening at Forum Mall, Mangaluru. The enthusiastic crowd participated in various activities such as nail art, mehendi, make up, professional photo shoot which were all provided free to the mothers to pamper themselves this mother’s day. The event was hosted by RJ Anurag. The highlight of this event was "Vibrant Chevrolet Super Mom 2017" contest.

The event also witnessed felicitation of 3 eminent mothers from the region who have excelled in the fields of Social Service, art, sports and education. Mrs Shashi Sehtty , Mrs Geetha Shetty and Dr. Amritha Bhandary were felicitated by the team of Moms of Mangalore.

The Initial Contest which started online culminated in the big Finale where Dr. Shilpa Dheeraj was crowned 'Super Mom 2017' and walked away with fabulous prizes while Shamitha Shetty was crowned first runner up and Deena Moras emerged as the second runner up. There was also a special prize for the Best Dressed Mommy-child pair which was taken by Deena Moras.

Mrs. Corrine Rasquinha, founder of White Doves NGO and Mrs. Komal Prabhu , chief operating officer at Maharaja restaurant were the judges for the grand finale.

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru CEN police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly posting provocative and misleading content on an Instagram page named “mr_a_titude”, targeting the Bajpe police.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H identified the arrested as Abhishek M, a resident of Katipalla in Mangaluru.

A case has been registered at the Bajpe Police Station under Sections 353(1)(c), 353(2), 56, and 57 read with Section 189 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the post.

According to police, the accused uploaded a photograph of a hotel on the Instagram page and alleged that accused persons in a murder case under the Bajpe police jurisdiction were being given “royal treatment” by the police, including being served beef meals daily from the hotel.

The post further accused the police of supporting criminals, misusing their authority, and betraying public trust. Police said the content was provocative in nature and aimed at inciting public outrage against the police.

Following the post, a case was registered at the Bajpe police station, and further investigation was transferred to the CEN police station.

Police records indicate that the accused has a criminal history, with multiple cases registered against him, including murder, attempt to murder, assault, and robbery at the Surathkal Police Station, and one case at the Kaup Police Station.

The Commissioner said the accused was traced and arrested using technical evidence.
