Mangaluru, Feb 16: The Karnataka State Under 11 Open and Girls Chess Championship 2015 organised by Chess Shoots Academy, Bangalore under the banner of United Karnataka Chess Association, concluded on Sunday.
Nidhi Shenoy (ELO Rating 1287) from St Theresa's School, Bendur, Mangaluru, defeated Sanjana Raghunath of Bengaluru to crown the Karnataka Under 11 Girls Chess Championship. She scored eight and half points out of nine rounds.
Chandanashree V of Bengaluru scored eight points and won the Silver Medal. On better tie break score Spandana Raikar of Shimogga won the Bronze Medal.
In Open category, Top seed, Dhanush Bharadwaj(1927) Kumarans Public School of Bengaluru drew with Sriram Udayakumar (1439) of Bangalore and emerged as Champion of Karnataka State Open Under 11 Chess Championship 2015 .
Kamal Srivastav Sajja(1370) and Nachiketh Adiga (1273) both from Bengaluru scored seven and half points each, based on better tie break score Komal was adjudged as silver and Nachiketh was given Bronze Medal.
Dhanush Bharadwaj, Komal Srivastav Sajja, Nidhi Shenoy and Chandanashree will represent Karnataka State for the upcoming National Under 11 Open and Girls Chess Championship 2015 to be held at Pondichery in July 2015.
