Mangaluru, May 9: A massive fire broke out in a factory at Ganjimutt industrial area in Mangaluru in the wee hours of Tuesday. It took several hours to douse the fire, and left goods worth over Rs 10 crore burnt.

The tragedy occurred at Moha Packaging (india) Private Limited belonging to Mohammad Haneef Bajpe and Sajida Banu. The factory is involved in manufacture of plastic products, metals and chemicals etc. It also exports a few products to United Arab Emirates.
The jurisdictional Bajpe police station came to know about fire mishap around 2:30 a.m. Soon the information was passed to the directors of the factory. Fire tenders also were pressed into action.
According to police, the fire mishap may have been caused by a short circuit. In spite of the rigorous operation by the fire officials a major portion of the factory is gutted in fire. A large stock of industries packaging items, liners etc. also were destroyed.
According to Mohammad Haneef, the company suffered a loss of Rs 10 to 12 crore due to the tragedy. More details awaited.
