Mangaluru, Oct 12: Municipal administration and minority welfare minister Qamar-ul Islam said that the Directorate of Minorities had decided to build 70 additional hostels for minority students in the state and increase the intake of students in existing minority hostels in Karnataka.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to the post-graduation girls’ hostel for minorities in Chilimbi here on Monday, he said that out of the existing 167 hostels for minorities in the state, four were located in Dakshina Kannada district, and two additional hostels would be built for minority students.
After inspecting the condition and cleanliness of the hostel, the minister said that the ongoing extension work in the hostel building would help accommodate 25 additional girls in two dormitories after the work was completed.
