Mangaluru: Teacher's love story ends with rape and blackmail; accused held

Mangaluru, Jun 14: A high school teacher was on Tuesday arrested by police in Konaje near here for forcefully developing physical relations with a female teacher on the promise of marriage, and then blackmailing her with her nude pictures.

The arrested is Narasimha Murthy (34) from Mysuru, who has been working in Deralakatte Netaji government high school for the last four months.

The victim Smriti (name changed), in her complaint, stated that Murthy had befriended her when the two met for the first time in 2014 during a training programme for Morarji Desai teachers held in Mysuru.

28-year-old Smriti, who hails from Mandya, and is currently working in a government primary school in Bantwal taluk, gradually fell in love with Murthy as he promised her of marriage.

On June 2, Murthy had invited Smriti to his room, where he allegedly raped her and then took her nude pictures using his mobile phone.

Later, he demanded money from her and started blackmailing with the help of the nude pictures. He also forced her to sign a cheque worth a few thousand rupees.

The helpless Smriti approached Konaje police and lodged a complaint against Murthy. The police managed to arrest the accused from his room. They also seized his mobile phone which contained the nude pictures of the victim.
