Mangaluru top cop Vipul Kumar, four others IPS officers transferred

Bengaluru/Mangaluru, Jun 9: The new state government has transferred five IPS officers including Mangaluru city police commissioner Vipul Kumar.

Mr Kumar, a 1999-batch IPS officer, had taken charge in Mangaluru on April 18 this year. Even before completing two months in the city, he was on Friday transferred as IGP and Director, Karnataka Police Academy, Mysuru.

Mr. Kumar, 49, a native of Jehanabad in Bihar, has done M.Tech in Petroleum Engineering from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. Before coming to IPS, he was the Executive Engineer in the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation.

Other transfers

The Anti-Corruption Bureau, Bengaluru, gets a new Inspector General of Police. M Chandra Shekar, who was serving as the IGP and Commissioner of Police, Belagavi city, Belagavi, has been transferred as the new IGP, ACB, Bengaluru, until further orders.

Dr D C Rajappa, DIG, Railways, Bengaluru, has been transferred as the DIG and Commissioner of Police, Belagavi.

C Vamsi Krishna, Superintendent of Police, Bagalkot, has been transferred as Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Eastern Range, Davangere.

C B Ryshyanth, Superintendent of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, Bengaluru, has been transferred as Superintendent of Police, Bagalkot.
