Mangaluru/Bengaluru, Aug 26: The investigation into the coldblooded murder of Gauri Lankesh has found that an employee of Karnataka education department, who was arrested for training the suspects the case in the use of guns, had also trained those who killed other rationalists including Narendra Dabholkar.

The SIT sources said that Bangera, who was arrested after being identified as an arms trainer for Parashuram Waghmare and Ganesh Miskin, the key suspects in Gauri murder case, had also trained Sachin Andhure and Sharad Kalaskar, arrested this week by the CBI in the Dabholkar murder case (August 20, 2013). Both Andhure and Kalaskar have identified Bangera as the person who trained them to use guns from pictures shown to them.
The investigation has also found that Bangera had trained the different pairs of shooters involved in the murder of Leftist thinker Govind Pansare in Kohlapur in February 2015 and Kannada scholar M M Kalburgi in Dharwad on August 30, 2015. He is also suspected to be the source of bullets for the four murders.
Highly places sources also said that Bangera, on the instructions of Hindutva extremist Anmol Kale, had conducted weapon training sessions in forests in Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Belagavi and Vijayapura districts. Over the last two years, they trained people in Goa, and Pune and other parts of Maharashtra, sources said.
Since 2011-12, Bangera trained nearly 50 people in the usage of guns and physical combat as part of a radical Hindutva conspiracy to target progressive thinkers in the country, the sources said.
