Maulana Abdul Khadir passes away after 65 years of service as Shah Meer Imam

Mangaluru, Feb 26: Imam of Shah Meer Syed Ali masjid and senior scholar Maulana Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Khadir passed away at his home in Kudroli on Wednesday at the age of 88.

He is survived by five daughters and five sons.

After completing his Alim course under the guidance of late Hazrat Syed Yusuf Saheb, he served as the Imam of Shah Meer Syed Ali Masjid for a period of 65 years.

He was also actively involved in the activities of several organisations including being the vice-president of Daarul Uloom Al Ma'alif in Karkala and a trustee of Faizul Islam madrasa in Shirva.

Originally from Kavalakatte in Belthangady taluk, he had shifted his residence to Kudroli in Mangaluru where he had been residing till his death.

Family sources have informed that the funeral and last rites would be performed after prayers at Zeenath Baksh Jumma Masjid in Bunder at 12 p.m. on Thursday.
