Similarly, a SMS would be sent to the Field Officer from the Control Room informing him about the problem in the said ward. The SMS complaint service will be open 24x7.
Briefing media persons, Mr. Bhat said that the state government has cleared three packages with regard to Solid Waste Management which will help Mangalore go a step further in becoming a cleaner city. One of them is the approval for vehicle tracking wherein vehicles collecting and carrying loads of garbage would be tracked using the GPS system. The other two are 'M-Governance (mobile governance) and SMS complaint service wherein citizens can complaint to the MCC in case of lapses in door to door and garbage collection.
Builders to be brought under CSR ambit
Mr. Bhat said that the government is considering formulating a separate policy wherein builders would be asked to contribute to the development of the economically weaker sections of the society from their building projects as part of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
The policy will be exclusively for private builders and there would be no question of government land being involved, Mr. Bhat said.
The government is yet to discuss and decide on the percentage of benefit for the economically weaker sections of the society in this builders' policy, he said.
