According to the Belthangady police, Sunanda (40) had taken her two children, Bharat (9) and Bhuvit (6), to the lake near their house in Belalu village.
The police suspected that Sunanda might have pushed her two children into the lake and then jumped into the waters.
According to woman’s brother Sundara Malekudiya, who lodged a complaint, she was under depression as she had to take care of her children without the help of her husband.
Sunanda had married Srinivas from Balamogaru, Puttur around 10 years ago. As there were no schools in the vicinity, she along with her sons had shifted to Sundara's house in Belalu about three years ago, after which her sons were enrolled in school. Her husband used to visit her once or twice a month.
