Mangalore, July 1: An expert committee must be constituted to provide alternative arrangement for the street vendors who have been evicted by the Mangalore City Corporation, said Corporator Appi.
Speaking after inaugurating a protest organised by the Beedibadi Vyaparigala Horata Samithi, in front of Mangalore City Corporation building, she urged the MCC to stop Civic Tiger operation against street vendors.
Corporator Jayanthi Shetty said “our agitation will continue till MCC stops eviction drive.” Beedibadi Vyaparigala Horata Samithi Convenor Sunil Kumar said if the Council fails to come to a final decision on street vendors, then we will start non cooperation movement from July 1. The street vendors will sell their produce on the street. Road blocks, picketing of MCC will be carried out.
Building Workers Association's U Jayanth Nayak, Raitha Sangha's Ramanna Vittal, CITU General Secretary Vasanth Achari and others were present.
