Mangalore, July 12: City Police have arrested two 'love birds' on Monday in connection with robbery, occurred on Sunday night at bill collection centre of Mangalore Electric Supply Company (MESCom).
The arrested are Poornima (20), daughter of Poovappa Salian, and Chethan (23), son of Lokesh. Both are residents of Idya village in Mangalore taluk.
Mangalore City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh told media persons here on Tuesday that Ramesh Shetty, senior superintendent of private firm that operating bill collecting system had complained with Surathkal police station that a person wearing a helmet came to Mescom Office, snatched a cash amount of Rs 1.36 lakh from woman employee Poornima after threatening and tying her up.
Surathkal police who took up the investigation, zeroed in on Poornima who confessed the crime.
Terming the incident as “dramatized crime” Seemanth Kumar Singh, the two love birds enacted the scene.
While Poornima was already produced before court, Chethan is in police custody.
Police have recovered Tata Sumo vehicle and the cash from the accused.
