Four fishermen drown in Arabian Sea near Malpe

Udupi, Aug 12: Four fishermen were drowned in the Arabian Sea near Malpe, after a fishing boat capsized hitting a rock under the sea, in the wee hours of Friday.

The deceased are Mahadeva (28), Ramachandra (60), Damodar (40) and Ramesh Ganapathi Harikantha, all from Manki in Honnavar taluk.

They had been to fishing in Thirumala boat owned by Panduranga Kundar.

Though Panduranga and Manjunath a fellow fisherman were survived after successfully swimming to the coast, four persons were drowned in the sea.

The incident occurred within 15 minutes of their departure from the Malpe fisheries harbour. Malpe police registered a case.
