Two workers die in yet another MRPL tragedy

Mangalore, March 19: In yet another tragedy in Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited, two people died of suffocation on Monday morning.


The deceased have been identified as Gunashekhar and Marimuthu, who were working as driver and cleaner of a tanker lorry carrying bitumen from MRPL. Both the workers were from Tamil Nadu.

It is learnt that both died on spot after inhaling poisonous fumes that come of the tank around 8:00 am. The duo fell unconscious after entering the tank to clean it, sources said.

A case has been registered at Suratkal police station. Investigations are on.
