Mangalore, December 22: The secret behind the device built by President of Federation of Indian Rationalist Association Dr Narendra Nayak that had supposedly averted the apocalypse or 'Doomsday' on Friday, December 21, is finally out.

Introducing a sophisticated water purification plant as 'Pralaya Prevention Machine' to the reporters on Saturday, Rationalist Narendra Nayak said that the machine did not avert an apocalypse for the simple reason that it was never supposed to occur, either on December 21 or any day soon.

“The machine was labeled and glorified with scientific jargon only to expose the sham predictions to which gullible people fall prey,” he said, adding that every religion barring Jainism and Buddhism talks of the 'end of the world', due to which it was easy to confuse and mislead people.

“The stunt of having designed a machine to combat doomsday was staged by us only to expose the tricks of astrologers and the like,” he said.

He held the education system and the people at fault for the success of such false predictions and sham.

“It is hard to disagree with Press Council of India Chairman Justice Markandeya Katju when he says 90 per cent Indians are idiots,” he remarked.
