Mangalore, Mar 26: A day after M G Hegde and Nagaraj Shetty along with 60 other office bearers formally announced their resignation from the primary membership of JD(S) citing lack of cooperation from Dakshina Kannada District President M B Sadashiva, the pro-Sadashiva group showed up before the media claiming Mr. Hegde and Mr. Shetty of having “internal agreement” with another political party.

Addressing media persons at a news conference in Mangalore on Tuesday, Sushil Noronha, State Vice President, JD(S), accused Mr.Shetty and Mr.Hegde of having understandings with another political party and that their actions are a deliberate ploy to hurt JD(S) in the elections.

“A leader of Nagaraj Shetty's calibre was unable to find a candidate for his own Kodialbail ward in the MCC elections. It shows that he had an internal agreement with another political party. Same goes with M G Hegde as he too was not able to find a candidate for his own ward. All he wanted was money which he has swallowed in great amount. Their resignation from JD(S) has further proved that they have joined hands with another party in ensuring that JD(S) suffers in the elections”, Mr. Noronha said.

Refuting the claim made by Mr.Hegde yesterday, Mr. Noronha said that Mr.Hegde had not been given the post of DK district in-charge of the party by State President H D Kumaraswamy. Mr. Hegde and Mr. Shetty are known party hoppers and their resignations will have little impact on JD(S), Mr. Noronha said.

On a query on Sadananda Shetty's candidature for the Assembly ticket, Mr. Noronha said that although Mr. Shetty is pained by the recent developments within the party, he continues to be the party's candidate for Mangalore (South) constituency.

Abdul Azeez Kudroli, Councilor, Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), Hyder Parthipady, Member, JD(S) National Committee, Ramakrishna Shetty, Vice President, JD(S) DK, were also present.
