
Mangalore, May 25: In a gut-wrenching tragedy, an 8-year-old boy was electrocuted to death after he accidentally touched a power transformer while playing near his house in Mangalore on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Nadeem son of Abdul Sattar, a resident of Husna Mansion at Jeppu Kutpady in the city. He was a class IV student at Sarojini Madhusudan Kushe School, Attavar.
The incident occurred when the little boy climbed the barricade of a high-tension transformer located near his house.
It is learnt that the boy died on spot when his hand came in contact with the transformer accidentally. Eye witnesses said that his hand got dethatched from the body and stuck in the transformer when the high-voltage current passed through him.
He was immediately taken to a private hospital, where doctors pronounced him brought dead. A case of unnatural death has been registered at jurisdictional Pandeshwar police station.
