AI flight to Muscat returns after take-off as pilot detects snag

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 8: An Air India Trivandrum-Muscat flight had to return after take-off as the pilot reported a technical snag.

The Boeing 747 IX 549 flight, with 153 passengers on board, returned 30 minutes after it took off from the Trivandrum International Airport, Air India sources said.

The Air Traffic Control was alerted immediately and the aircraft landed safely, airport sources said. The passengers were provided food on the aircraft and shifted to various hotels in the city. Some passengers hailing from the city were allowed to go home. The snag was rectified by the engineering wing of the airline.

The aircraft will take off to Muscat at 3.30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8.
