
Mangalore, July 2: Kannada film 'Chella Pilli', directed by debutant director Sai Krishna Kudla and starring Vijay Raghavendra is all set to be released on July 5 across cinema theatres all over Karnataka.
The movie, featuring several Tulu artistes in lead roles, is being produced by the city-based Sudesh Bhandary under the banner 'Shinecity Productions'. Director of the movie Sai Krishna has worked as an assistant director of Tulu movie 'Aamait Asal Eemait Kusal', and has also worked as a Tulu theatre artiste previously.
Speaking at a press conference in the city on Tuesday, Mr Saikrishna said that although the movie featured Vijay Raghavendra and Aishwarya Nag in the lead roles, the characters of Tulu artistes Aravind Bolar and Bhojaraj Vamanjoor also had equal prominence in the movie. It can also be said that Naveen D Padil also features in the lead in Chella Pilli, he said.
The movie is slated to be screened at Jyothi theatre and Cinepolis multiplex in Mangalore, and Kalpana theatre in Udupi, he said, hoping that a good response would be garnered for the movie.
In response to a query, he said that he did not incorporate any aspect of the coastal region in the movie, since he wanted the story to come across as a universal subject.
He said that the movie was shot over a period of 54 days in locations around Mangalore, Tumkur and Bangalore. It was shot on a budget of Rs 2.5 crores, he said.
Chella Pilli features four songs, composed by noted music director Mikku Kamal and sung by Jessie Gift, Karthik, Anuradha Bhat, Nakul Abhyankar, Shamitha Malnad, Malathi and Chinthan.
Producer Sudesh Bhandary, Sukesh Bhandary, actors Aravind Bolar and Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, and unit head of Cinepolis Keerthan Shetty were present.
