Four arrested for destroying NaMo banner, attacking three

Mangalore, Sep 25: The Konaje police have successfully nabbed four persons who were on their way to Kerala from Bangalore in a bid to escape the police, on Monday night. The four had torn off the banners of 'NaMo' brigade, damaged one tempo, one bus and also attacked a drivers of tempo and bus along with the conductor of the bus.

The arrested are Nawaz, son of Abdul Rahiman from Gausiya Compound of Mudipu, Mohomad Azwin, son of Abdul Khader from Mudipu, Jiyad, son of Abdul Rahiman from Pandikatte in Mudipu and Rahim, son of Ibrahim from Darkas-Mudipu.

On September 18, the four got into an altercation with Abdul Rahiman, a driver of 407 tempo which was parked at Muloor cross. They assaulted him over the argument and then went on to tear off the poster of NaMo brigade, which was hung nearby. They then stood on the middle of the road. When the driver and conductor of Sri Sharada bus questioned them, the gang attacked them as well and damaged the bus.

The gang, which ran away from the spot came to Melkar and then fled to Bangalore to escape the police. After living in Bangalore for five days they were about to leave to Kerala to live with their friends. However, their escape bid was foiled by the cops who reached Bangalore on time and nabbed them. Nawaz is a rowdy-sheeter who has several cases against him.

The four are said to be drug addicts who wanted to fuel a communal flare up in the region by destroying the banner of Narendra Modi.
