
The protestors carried out a rally from Jyothi to State Bank after boycotting regular classes urging for the speedy inquiry and demanding the arrest of the murderer.
Demanding a thorough probe into the mysterious death, the ABVP Joint Secretary, Mahipal said that the incident has created fear among students as well as their parents.
He said there have been many cases of teenage girls going missing, kidnapped, raped and murdered such as Belthangady Soujanya rape and murder, Manipal gang-rape, athlete Prithvi death in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Akshatha's case is also one of them.
“Police need to be transparent, impartial and provide justice by solving mysterious death of Akshatha”, he urged.
The decomposed body of Akshatha was found near an ice plant in Mulihithlu on Tuesday.
The anguished students met Deputy Commissioner and submitted a memorandum to be submitted to the Chief Minister.
According to sources she was in love with her classmate Madan from Manjeshwar in Kerala. Both were reportedly missing from September 21. Akshatha had left home to attend special class and did not go to the college. A case was registered at the Mangalore rural police station.
Madan's mobile phone switched off since then, police said.
The cause of death is not clear in the autopsy report. The viscera have been sent to forensic examination.
