Mangalore, Sep 28: Members of the Airport Authority Employees Union at Mangalore International Airport on Friday demonstrated against a Union Civil Aviation Ministry proposal to privatise 17 airports.
They staged the lunch hour demonstration as part of the nationwide protest called by unions of the AAI.
The members said the privatisation would only benefit private parties and a few politicians in the country. They are handing over these airports, which have already been modernised and upgraded by the AAI by spending public money, members said.
Union Secretary V M Shivanna, Engineer Guild Secretary S S Raju and others addressed the protestors.
