Mangalore, Oct 21: Nine persons were injured when two groups, of different communities, clashed in Neermarga near Mallur on Monday over a trivial issue.
Eight among the injured have been identified as Latha, Umavathi, Sharan, Sanketh, Prasad, Jayashree, Praveen and Deepak.
It is said that funeral rites of a woman was held in the house of one Kunjanna where some of the youth scolded a few boys for allegedly damaging one of the parked bikes.
Later in the evening, a group of men, apparently enraged over the youth's reaction, allegedly pelted stones at Kunjanna's family and allegedly assaulted them.
All of the injured have been admitted to Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore.
It is the second such incident in two months of period happened in Neermarga. On September 14, five people were injured in the group clash when “residents” detained and brought a murder accused who has been absconding after an attempt to murder case was filed against him.
