Mangalore, Nov 14: Senior Kannada scholar, writer and researcher Dr B A Viveka Rai has unanimously been selected as the president of Alva's Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat – 2013, announced chairman of Alva's Educational Foundation, Moodbidri Dr M Mohan Alva.

Addressing mediapersons at a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that the literary and cultural extravaganza, Alva's Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat would be inaugurated on December 19. The four-day extravaganza is likely to draw around ten lakh people. Literary events will be held simultaneously at three different stages during morning hours in the college campus at Vidyagiri, Moodbidri. Cultural programmes will be held simultaneously at 10 different stages in the evenings, he said.

Arrangements will be made to ensure food, accommodation and parking facilities to the people attending the events, he said.
Nudisiri and Virasat, which were being conducted separately till last year, will be organised jointly this year.
Dr B A Viveka Rai had serves as a professor of Kannada language, literature and folklore at Mangalore University from 1970 to 2004. He was the Vice Chancellor of Kannada University, Hampi from 2004 to 2007 and Vice Chancellor of Karnataka State Open University from 2007 to 2009.
