
Belthangady, Dec 30: Police have registered a case against 15 people on suspicion of raising pro-Pakistan slogans outside a centre in Ujire where counting of votes polled for Gram Panchayat election was in progress on Wednesday.
A video of raising pro-Pakistan slogan outside the gram panchayat election vote counting centre, is going viral on social media. Activists of both SDPI and BJP can be seen in the video.
Police said some SDPI activists who were celebrating their candidate’s win in the election, shouted pro-Pakistan slogans outside a counting centre here on Wednesday.
Thousands of people affiliated to various parties had gathered outside the counting centre. Whenever the result was announced, supporters of the candidate were shouting slogans in favour of their party. It is said it was at this juncture that some people raised Pakistan Zindabad slogans.
Belthangady Circle Inspector Sandesh PG who immediately rushed to the spot dispersed the crowd. Security has been stepped up in the area and parties have been asked not to celebrate the win near the counting centre.
