Mangaluru, Jun 28: Regular users of the Mangaluru—BC Road stretch, which is a part of National Highway 75, have a reason to cheer as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is all set to upgrade the entire stretch into a six-lane road soon.
The Centre has approved six-laning the stretch between B C Road and Mangaluru under Package 1 of B.C. Road-Mukka six-lane project, according to Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. Currently the stretch is four-lane road.
The 17-km stretch between Mangaluru and Mukka would be made six-lane in Package 2 as the project involves participation of New Mangalore Port Trust too, modalities of which are being worked out. The project, part of Bengaluru-Mangaluru Bharatmala Corridor, would address bottlenecks at Nanthoor, KPT and Baikampady junctions, he said.
Meanwhile, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has submitted land requirement plans for widening Mangaluru-Karkala NH 169 into a four-lane road to the State government. The four-lane road would have a uniform width of 45 metres throughout, he added.
